Parade safety measures in place near railroad tracks in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Long Beach has put some safety measures in place ahead of the Carnival Association of Long Beach Parade this weekend.
A barrier has been set up near the railroad track in the city after CSX raised concerns about the proximity of people and vehicles near the railroad tracks after last year’s parade.
No trespassing signage has also been put near the tracks.
City leaders ask that you stay clear of the tracks, respect the fencing put up, and avoid setting up near the area.
Mayor Pierce adds that the city has noticed people claiming viewing areas with rebar ahead of the parade. In the interest of safety, these will be removed by the city.
