Pancakes for Scholarships

Today, a plate of pancakes whipped up scholarship money for local students.
No one walked away hungry from the Ocean Springs Civic Center today after the Rotary Club’s annual Scholarship Pancake Day. Heaping portions of pancakes were served alongside sausage and grits with a choice of tea, orange juice or coffee. All of this was $5 and for a good cause. The money raised goes towards scholarships for students in the Ocean Springs and St. Martin area. Ocean Springs Rotary Club President Elect Leigh Jaunsen said, “As everyone knows, college is very expensive these days so any little bit helps. Not only that, I think it is confidence building. It feels like you have the support of your community.”
So far this year, the Rotary Club has given out more than $11,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors.
