Pair of crashes occurred within one mile of each other in Gautier today
State troopers are urging motorists to stay alert after a pair of crashes occurred within a mile of each other this morning in Jackson County.
At around 7 a.m., a semi-truck left the road and went into the woods at mile marker 60 near the Gautier Vancleave exit. The truck was the only vehicle involved.
At about 11 a.m., another crash happened on the Pascagoula River Bridge on I-10 in the westbound lanes.
No word yet on the cause of these accidents. MS Highway Patrol Spokesman Cal Robertson said, “When motorists are driving around a semi-truck, keep in mind that those trucks are loaded, they’re very heavy, they cannot stop very quickly and they do not make sudden movements. So, it’s always safe for motorists to maneuver around a semi-truck and not stay right there beside them. And be sure that the semi-truck sees them, and be sure not to cut one off.”
No injuries were reported in these two accidents. Traffic was cleared by noon.
