Paint the Coast Blue Week

If you’ve driven around South Mississippi this week, you may have noticed a little more blue than usual. It’s Paint the Coast Blue Week.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Blue Team has been asking residents and businesses to display something blue outside their home or establishment to show support for our law enforcement community.
Many have switched their outdoor lights to blue ones. One local Lowe’s even sold out of the colored lights.
Blue Team members tell News 25 the support of the community does not go unnoticed from the men and women in uniform. MS Gulf Coast Blue Team member Kristin Allen said, “I’ve had officers text me and say thank you because they’ve driven through neighborhoods and they’ve seen blue stuff everywhere. The response has just been phenomenal and I’m very proud to be from the Mississippi Gulf Coast seeing how the community has rallied around supporting our law enforcement.”
This weekend, Paint the Coast Blue Week will culminate as the Blue Team and Fight Force International team up on Saturday for Law Enforcement Appreciation Night at the Blood and Sand Fights event. Officers will get in for free with a number of door prizes and other special events throughout the evening.
Doors will open at 6 at the Coliseum and the fights will start at 7.
