Oyster Festival kicks off Friday

For the third year, Gulf Coast Oyster Cook-off and Festival kicks off tomorrow in Gulfport.

One change from last is the venue has moved from the Biloxi Towngreen to Jones Park. This is because promoters are expecting a larger crowd as national country artist Dylan Scott is headlining Friday night starting at 9.

On Saturday, you can sample oysters from restaurants on the Coast from noon until 4 p.m. On Saturday, county artist Jordan Davis will wrap things up starting at 9. Gulf Coast Oyster Cook-off Festival Promoter Glenn Mattina Jr. said, “In order for us to grow the event the way we think it can grow and hopefully make an impact on that first weekend of Cruisin’ the Coast coming to town. Jones Park was the obvious move especially since we’re bringing in national touring bands which we intend to do every year and more of them.”

The event is on rain or shine. Tickets for a single day can be bought online for $20 or at the gate for $25. There will be a special deal on Saturday from 1 to 4 where tickets will be $15 at the gate.

If you want to sample oysters that ticket will cost you an extra $15.
