Oyster Ball Drop at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum
South Mississippi waited on the oyster to drop to usher in 2019.
The Maritime Seafood and Industry Museum hosted this event to add a Gulf Coast twist to the New Year. There was food, drinks, live entertainment, and fireworks.
At midnight, everyone came together to watch the oyster ball drop from the top of the museum. A factory whistle blew to ring in the New Year at Point Cadet.
Everyone was invited to come out to the front lawn to watch the oyster ball drop, including tourists who wanted to bring the New Year in on the Coast. Florida resident Dena Weekley said, “It’s a blessing to be able to spend time with your family and friends. I’m with three of my aunts. It is definitely a blessing. The only niece that is with the ladies this trip!”
After the fireworks and oyster drop, everyone received donuts and coffee on the way out.
