Overcrowding at the Humane Society
That doggy in the window won’t cost you too much if you shop at the Humane Society of South Mississippi tomorrow.
Due to an overcrowded facility, you can adopt many dogs and cats for just $15. The Humane Society has a capacity of 289 animals, but this morning the count was at 356.
Maren Slay with the Humane Society tells News 25 this time of year, overcrowding happens because many people bring litters in. Tomorrow, if a dog or cat is 10 months or older, your adoption fee is only $10 with a tag fee of $5. “You come in, you need a form of ID and you’ll fill out the paper work here. We have a list of our adoptable animals on the website so it’s helpful to us if you kind of have an idea of the animals you’re interested in when you come in and just ask for an adoption counselor and they’ll help you,” said Slay.
The dog you see Slay holding in the video is named Lady. She’s two-years-old, loves kids and being held. She will be available to pick up tomorrow for $15.
