Our weather turns unsettled late this week
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi
Quiet weather will continue through Thursday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 60s.
The weather pattern changes Friday as the tropical system in the southwest Gulf turns northward and approaches the Gulf Coast. Rain chances increase through the day, with tropical storm conditions possible Friday and Friday night, depending where the system tracks.
The biggest impacts could happen on Saturday, when showers and thunderstorms are likely, higher wind gusts, and locally heavy rainfall will be possible. Rain chances remain elevated into Sunday before conditions gradually improve.
The forecast remains dependent on the system’s exact track and strength, so residents along the Gulf Coast should continue monitoring updates through the week.
