Our Lady of Fatima Elementary in Biloxi installs new safety alert feature

State Senator Joel Carter is going the extra mile to ensure classroom safety in Mississippi.

If you’ve ever been concerned about your child’s safety in the classroom, you are not alone. Parents, school leaders, and state senators are working together to keep the classrooms in Biloxi a little bit safer.

Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School in Biloxi recently installed a series of classroom alarms which will provide precise locations within the school for police in an emergency situation. The school held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate the new safety feature.

State Senator Joel Carter and other state and city officials spoke at the ceremony, saying they hope this system is just the beginning. “People talk about, especially politicians, talk about school safety all the time, but no one is doing anything about it. It’s the future. If we want to protect our kids, systems like this will protect our kids.”
