Our Lady Academy hosts a 5K run and show drive for mercy
Leading up to their birthday celebration, Our Lady Academy hosted a 5K mercy run and one mile fun run in Bay St. Louis at Washington St. Pier on Saturday morning.
Over 50 participants ran in honor of a dynamic and devoted English teacher, Mary Alice Benvenutti and one of the most memorable and spiritual icons who recently passed away, Coach Harry Hull.
Along with the run, Our Lady Academy collected tennis shoes for Back Bay Mission and Hancock County Resources.
All profits from the race will go towards helping students with scholarships go to OLA.
This is the third year Our Lady Academy has done the race and will continue to do so in the future. Assistant Principal Leigh Chapman said, “Sitting around one night, how can we honor these people and it just has blossomed into this. It’s great to see everyone out here at 6:30 this morning. We had people setting up tables and getting the race ready to go. Being alum myself, it is just great seeing the community participate in such a worthy cause.”
This Friday, Our Lady Academy is having their annual Mercy Day Celebration, which falls on the school’s birthday. OLA encourages all alumni, graduates, and parents to come join at the school that day.
