Our Lady Academy hosting annual 5K Run for Mercy and Tennis Shoe Drive

Our Lady Academy is lacing up for its annual 5K Run for Mercy and Tennis Shoe Drive.

The run is in honor of former teacher Mary Alice Benvenutti and Coach Harry Hull and proceeds from the race will benefit a scholarship in their names.

In conjunction with the event, Our Lady Academy is accepting new or gently used shoes that will be donated to local community outreach ministries.

Gabby Haas and Callie Fletcher are ambassadors for the event and tell us why it is important to be involved with the community. Haas said, “At OLA, we are taught to be disciples and we can bring this out into our community by participating in service projects like the 5K run and the shoe drive.”

Fletcher said, “The shoe drive and the 5k allow OLA to spread it’s messages of love and dignity throughout our community, and to be a true help to those in need.”

The drop off locations for the tennis shoes are:

  • Carquest Auto Parts
  • Holy Trinity Catholic School
  • Kenny Dental
  • Mike Meyers State Farm
