Oregon man faces possible death sentence for Jackson County murder
A Mississippi grand jury has indicted a man on a capital murder charge after discovering his victim in a freezer in Jackson County.
Forty-one year-old Thomas Stafford is charged with strangling 65-year-old Jerry Kirkendall Sr. during a robbery at a Jackson County home in March of last year.
Kirkendall’s body was found in an unplugged freezer while his stolen Cadillac was found in Alabama. Authorities reported Stafford sold the Cadillac for cash and a gun.
His trial is scheduled for early February. If convicted he faces a possible death sentence.
