Ordinance Passed to Protect People on Parade Floats
While throwing beads off parade floats is encouraged, throwing objects at the floats is most certainly not. Tuesday afternoon, the Biloxi City Council voted to make it unlawful for any person to throw any item at a parade float, at a person on a parade float, or at any people marching in or participating in the parade.
The amendment was introduced by Council President, Kenny Glavan, who says, “If it deters one person from doing something silly, I think we’ve accomplished something, but I think as the news gets out that there is a no throw back ordinance, I think they’ll just focus on having a great time and they’ll not focus on being silly.”
This amendment comes right before a number of Mardi Gras events, which are scheduled to take place in Biloxi early next year.
