Orange Grove Students Learn About Electrical Safety
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 70% of child related electrical accidents occur at home, even with an adult present. Thursday, students learned many safety tips, such as how to safely exit a vehicle that is stopped near a downed power line and the importance of staying away from substations.
Julie Wright, Library Media Specialist, says, "We have this program every year for our fourth graders and they are very interested in it. It keeps them very excited. They are always full of questions. It really helps them learn about electrical safety and how they can just be aware of their surroundings and stay safe around the power lines and different transformers and things like that that are around in their neighborhoods."
Even adults can learn something new from these safety tips. For more information on them, visit www.mississippipower.com.
