Operation Pink House
Local women are trying to pour a little more pink in the White House. Everything from the punch to the décor was pink at a political panel discussion for women in Gulfport Sunday.
“Operation Pink House” was held at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was put on by the Pink Lotus Project. A panel of local female elected officials gave the crowd political advice and talked about how important it is for women to take part in the world of politics. Pink Lotus Project CEO Jocelyn Lane said, “I think we’re changing lives by giving girls a voice. We are giving them an opportunity to speak with ladies who they may not have the opportunity to speak with on their own. We’re creating a space for those girls to come together and speak to ladies who not so long ago were in their shoes.”
Biloxi City Councilwoman Dixie Newman, Harrison County Supervisor Beverly Martin, Representative Sonya Williams-Barnes and Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran were some of the panelists.
The group of women discussed problems females in politics face both in Mississippi and in our nation.
