One year since three-month-old caught in crossfire of deadly I-10 standoff

Today marks a grim milestone, it’s been one year since that deadly standoff on I-10 in Harrison County.

Three-month-old La’Mello Parker was killed in the crossfire during a shootout between police and the baby’s father Eric Smith.

Smith was also killed.

It happened in the median of I-10, just west of the Woolmarket exit, following a police chase that started in Louisiana after Smith had reportedly killed two people in Baton Rouge.

Just last month, a Harrison County grand jury cleared the officers involved in the I-10 standoff, saying there was no criminal conduct on their behalf.
