One week until Amtrak service returns to the Gulf Coast

SOUTH MISS (WXXV)- We are one week away from the return of Amtrak to the Gulf Coast.

It’s been a long time coming in terms of passenger rail returning to South Mississippi.

This twice daily service will run between New Orleans and Mobile with four stops in South Mississippi. Those stops are in Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula.

The service officially begins August 18, but there will be a celebratory inaugural run on Saturday, August 16.

Fares for the full route start at $15 with discounts for kids, students, seniors, and veterans.
