One person air-lifted to trauma center in three-vehicle accident on U.S. 49

An early-morning wreck stopped traffic on HIghway 49 early Friday morning.

Harrison County Fire Rescue and CRTC responded to East Wortham and Highway 49 just before 6 a.m. that involved three vehicles.

One of the vehicles went down an embankment on the side of the road and one of the drivers had to be extracated from the vehicle before being flown to a trauma center.

Mississippi Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
