One dead, one critical in motor home crash on I-10

One person is dead and another critical after a motor home crashed on I-10 Saturday afternoon near mile marker 24.

MHP spokesman Cal Robertson said the motor home left the roadway and went into the woodline this afternoon.

One person, 78-year-old Martin Bruno Jr., of Slidell, died at the scene. A second victim, 77-year-old Eileen Bruno, was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash, which happened about 3:30 p.m., backed up traffic in the westbound lanes of I-10.

One lane was open to traffic until both lanes had to be closed to allow the medical helicopter to land.

Motorists should avoid the area until the wreck is cleared.

Robertson said the incident is under investigation.
