UPDATE: One dead in Gulfport shooting

One man is dead as a result of Wednesday night’s shooting off Highway 49.

Harrison County coroner Gary Hargrove tells News 25, 54 year old Mitchell Weathersby has died of a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at Garden Park Medical center last night.

When officers arrived to the scene, they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds on the east side of Highway 49 near Louisiana Avenue.

Officers then located a *third* victim suffering from a gunshot wound on the west side of Highway 49 near Martin Luther King Junior Blvd.

That victim was involved in a car crash where a utility pole was taken out near the Family Dollar store.

All three victims were transported to nearby hospitals, where Weathersby died.  No word on the condition of the other two men.

No arrests have been made and Gulfport Police are asking anyone with information to call 228-868-5959.
