One dead after boat capsizes off the Coast near Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A boat capsized just off the Coast of Gulfport Tuesday, leaving one person dead.

This is footage sent in by the Harrison County coroner from the scene.

According to Gulfport Fire Chief Billy Kelley, they received the call of an overturned boat just after noon Tuesday.

The Coast Guard was first on scene near Moses Pier and found one adult female and two teenagers with one adult male initially missing.

The Coast Guard found the missing person unconscious and began performing CPR on shore shortly after.

The victim, 64-year-old Dan Reynolds of Gulfport, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Three others were on board and did survive.

According to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, this has been ruled an accident.

It is unclear the relation between the victims involved at this time.
