Arrests made in connection to Gulfport shooting

On August 4, 2023, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 17-year-old Cornelius Demetric Lampley Jr. and charged him with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault.

On August 4, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 13000 block of Dedeaux Road in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived and made contact with a victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim advised he was selling a firearm when Lampley and Peterson produced handguns and attempted to rob him of his firearm. Lampley and Peterson discharged their firearms striking the victim and then fleeing the scene.

Lampley was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of his $450,000 bond.

Marcus Peterson has been located and arrested in relation to this incident.
