One arrested after contraband found at George County Regional Correctional Facility

Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, George County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Agents with the Southeast Mississippi Narcotics Task Force were contacted regarding possible contraband being brought into the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

Upon arrival, Agents found 43-year-old Amy Leigh Morrelli, of Tibbie, AL, in possession of a quantity of marijuana. Ms. Morrelli had come to the facility for visitation with an inmate currently being housed there and had the marijuana concealed on her person in order to pass it to the inmate.

Morrelli was taken into custody and charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) in a Correctional Facility, which is a felony regardless of the amount of substance. She is currently in custody at the GCRCF and, after an initial appearance before George County Justice Court Judge Martin Seib, has been given a $ 2,000.00 commercial bond.
