OLG Crabfest kicks off in Bay St. Louis

Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church kicked off its annual Crabfest in Bay St. Louis on Thursday.

Many from far and wide came to celebrate the fourth and eat delicious foods, ranging from crab, gumbo, and tons of seafood.

The festival runs from now until the weekend with live music, games, rides, and local vendors of all kind.

Event organizer Jimmy Osbourn shares more on the tradition.

“So when this was created. There was not a crab festival. So we took the name crab festival and here we are 40 years later: So we have boil crabs, we have boil shrimp. We also have stuff crab potatoes because it is a crab festival,” said Osbourn. “And then you can fried fish, fried shrimp, French fries you can make that a plain or a po-boy, we have hamburgers, hot dogs, we have the New Orleans booth you know we’re not far from New Orleans. So we got the good red beans, all this is locally cooked.”

WXXV News 25’s Everett Ganier Jr. will be live Friday morning at the festival grounds to preview day 2 of the fun.
