Ole Miss vs. Southern Miss basketball in conversations to return to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum during 2024-25 season
If you are a fan of Southern Miss or Ole miss basketball, we have some good news for you! The game between the Golden Eagles and the Rebels is in the works to make its way back to the coast for the second year in a row.
At the annual Rebel Road Trip stop in Biloxi on Thursday, Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Chris Beard said that conversations are in the works to bring the Rebels and Golden Eagles back to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum for a second straight season. Last year was the first time these two teams had met on the coast, and Beard says that a neutral site game between the Sun Belt and SEC team is good for basketball in the Magnolia.
“Jay Ladner and I are friends, I have a lot of respect for coach,” said coach Beard. “I thought that the game was good last year for both teams. We are in conversations about that and it is something that we want to do on an annual basis for so many reasons. I think it is the right thing to do for basketball in the state of Mississippi. We have a lot of Ole Miss fans and alumni that support us here on the coast so I think it is a good game for both teams.”
The Rebels took last years contest at the Coliseum over the Golden Eagles 89-72. As more information becomes available for this years possible rematch, we will prove it right here on WXXV25.com.
