Ole Miss responds to NCAA
From the day Ole Miss received its notice of allegations from the NCAA, school officials made it clear of their plans to contest those allegations. Today, they did just that.
The Rebels fire back with yet another response to the governing body, detailing their side of the story. In the 125 page document, the university admits to multiple severe violations, but Ole Miss administration also states its disagreement with the NCAA’s “interpretation of the evidence or its sufficiency.”
The higher ups also voice their full support for Head Coach Hugh Freeze and will fight the allegations of lack of institutional control and head coach responsibility, both of which are serious level one violations.
Ole Miss levied punishment against the football program back in February, implementing a one-year post season ban among other consequences.
Overall the Rebels will contest seven of those 21 allegations, impermissible contact and impermissible recruiting inducement being the others.
The latter category also features subcategories of violations including free apparel, lodging and transportation, cash and drinks, and cash payments.
This all comes in response to the NCAA’s February 22nd notice of allegations.
