Ole Miss Quarterback Shea Patterson breaks Chad Kelly’s passing mark

Sophomore Quarterback Shea Patterson is the proud owner of a new single game school record. On Saturday, Ole Miss took down UT Martin 45-23. Patterson threw for 489 yards and five touchdowns in the process. That breaks the old yardage mark previously held by Chad Kelly as the Rebels move to 2-0 to start 2017.
Through those first two wins, Patterson has now thrown for 918 yards and nine scores which he says is a credit to his teammates. “It takes more than one guy to break a record. I had so much help from my receivers and my O-linemen and I didn’t even know I had broken a record. That’s the cool thing about this offense, there’s so much freedom and space and it’s just the tempo is always rolling so it was pretty cool.”
Ole Miss Interim Head Coach Matt Luke said, “Protection has been good, so Shea feels comfortable back there. I think as we get against really good pass rushers I think he’ll have to get the timing down and things like that, but very impressed with the poise.”
Ole Miss travels to Cal for a 9:30 kickoff on Saturday set to be televised on ESPN.
