Ole Miss men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard excited about weekend matchup with USM at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum

College basketball is making its way to the coast this Saturday as the 19th ranked Ole Miss rebels and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will be making their way to the Coast Coliseum for the second consecutive year.

College basketball fans on the coast are getting an early Christmas present as the Rebels of Ole Miss and the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss are set to player each other at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Last year the Rebels, led by head coach Chris Beard, beat USM 89-72. WXXV sports director Jevan McCoskey had the chance to catch up with Beard ahead of their Friday morning practice. He spoke on the importance of this game for fans on the coast both this weekend and in the future.

“I think it would be awesome for both schools,” Beard said. “Last year, the first year we played this game, we had a good crowd. A lot of effort went in to this second year game on both schools ends. Biloxi is personal to me. My father was in the air force and he was stationed here years ago so it is a place that is important to me personally. I hope that the fans respond on both ends and we come out and have a good division one game tomorrow.”
