Ole Miss football dominates Troy in season opener

Ole Miss brought the juice in its season opener, dominating Troy 28-10 and extending its home winning streak to ten games in the process.

Rushing offense and rushing defense, both strengths for the Rebels, who outgained the Trojans by more than 200 yards with all three first half touchdowns coming on the ground, courtesy of three different players.

Three second half turnovers proving to be a tale of two halves, but Head Coach Lane Kiffin is willing to take the good, the bad, and the ugly, as long as it means an Ole Miss win. “Glad to get to 1-0. You can’t get to 2-0. So, we did that. A really good first half. Really, a tale of two games. I really like how we played defense in the first half, how we ran the ball. They were playing pretty safe on defense. We checked the ball down. We were efficient. And in the second half, we gave up too many yards on defense. But then still, we’ll turn it into a positive over the next 24 hours because sometimes when you play great in the first game, then they don’t listen to you and think that we’ve got everything figured out. So as much as it’s painful to watch, it’s good sometimes. So, we have their attention. We’ve got to improve. We’ve got to do better.”

Rebels home again Saturday at 6 p.m. against Central Arkansas with Luke Altmyer getting the start at quarterback.
