Oldest veteran turns 103 at Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport
A party is being held this weekend for the oldest veteran at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.
Mrs. Lois was filled with joy and laughter and a whole of pink!
Lois Culp Hogan was enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April 1943. Her dream was to become a wartime photographer, but because of her incredible math skills, she was placed in Naval Intelligence decoding enemy messages.
To this day, she is as smart as a whip and can say her ABCs both forward and backwards.
Her family made the trip to Gulfport to celebrate her 103rd birthday at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
Mrs. Lois shares her secret to living a long life with News 25. “To live right, you do the right things, eat the right food, take the right exercise, just be happy. I was a good little wave.”
Birthday parties will be thrown all weekend long to celebrate the long and happy live of Mrs. Lois.
