Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour explores family legends

The 15th annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tour is scheduled for Sunday October 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and then the tour repeats on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5 to 7  p.m. This is the same tour on two dates.  The event is a self-guided, continuously performed event, so attendees may arrive anytime and witness all 10 re-enactments.  This year’s theme, Family Legends & Lore 2, features tales of Biloxians submitted by descendants.

The multi award winning tour endeavors to breathe life into Biloxi’s past by showcasing our ancestors whose lives and influence still effect each of us.

Portrayals include  Nicholas Christian Ladner (Cree Cantrell); Henry J. Agregaard (Bill Collins); Leda Anglada (Kathe Newcomb); John Becnel (Barry Newman); Ida Champeaux/Teresa Croncich (April Donegan/Tina Ball Johnston); Wilhelm Wallis (Brennan Prince); Verta Lee Bosarge Swetman (Glenda O’Neil); Paul Taconi (Boyce Deaton); James Parks Caldwell (Sam Burke); and Lessaint Broussard.

You can see a sneak peak of the Cemetery Tour on Thursday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the Biloxi Cemetery where there will also be a rededication of the recently restored tomb of St. Cyr Zamor (Seymour) patriarch of all Gulf Coast Seymours.

In keeping with tradition, this is a free public event but donations are welcome. The tour will showcase history-based reenactments at graveside. Walking entrance to the tour can be accessed either from the Highway 90 gate or from Irish Hill.  Refreshments will be provided.
