OLA Women’s Soccer: Olivia Gelpi signs with Louisiana
Over in Bay St. Louis, it’s Our Lady Academy soccer standout Olivia Gelpi putting down ink with the University of Louisiana.
A prolific goal-scorer for the Crescents during her junior season, Gelpi put 27 balls in the back of the net to go along with 10 assists in 20 games.
Formerly a four-sport athlete at OLA, Gelpi says she’s all in on her signature just like she went all in on pursuing her dream of playing collegiate soccer in the DI ranks. “I was trying to focus to make it look neat and not messy and not rush it cause sometimes you do things too fast and just to like take in the moment and appreciate the small things cause through the small things you reach your end goal. But really to accomplish my goal I had to throw everything I had and I had to give up certain sports just to fully involve myself into soccer, and have the time to reach my goal.”
Gelpi says she won a few state titles with volleyball while also running cross country and track.
