OLA students make shoe donations to Hancock County Resource Center

One Hancock County school has been collecting tennis shoes for a good cause.

Yesterday afternoon, Our Lady Academy student ambassadors delivered the shoes they collected during the annual tennis shoe drive to the Hancock County Resource Center.

The gently worn shoes will be used to help those who otherwise wouldn’t have reliable footwear. Gabby Haas, vice president of the ambassador club at Our Lady Academy, spoke to us about the mixed variety of shoes that’s being donated. “The shoes are new and gently used. They are, they’re not just tennis shoes. There’s some boots. There’s some slippers and there’s some Sperry’s, some fancier shoes.”

Our Lady Academy estimates more than 200 shoes were donated.

The Hancock Resource Center will have the official count next week.
