Ohr-O’Keefe presents Catwalk under the Oaks
Tonight, the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art hosted a spring gala ‘Catwalk under the Oaks,’ a high-end fashion show where industrial chic meets contemporary art.
The event featured elaborate headdresses from local florist the French Potager, based out of Bay St. Louis, and fashions from NYC designer Sariah Park.
Projections from visual, indigenous Artist Mona Cliff were also featured with live music from Jazz Violinist Michael Ward, alongside live auctions and awards for best-dressed attendees.
All in all, four artists who had never met previously were the centerpiece of the museum’s first major event since the start of COVID-19. Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Executive Director David Houston said, “Well, it’s really unique to have people that haven’t worked together make something that’s a whole. And part of that is the coordination of the staff. But 10 or 15 years ago we would not be calling these young women artists. We would be calling them craftspeople. But the legacy of George Ohr, which we celebrate at the museum is how visionary creativity comes in all forms. So tonight, we’re celebrating this as both art, fashion and a celebration of life, all put together by this extraordinary team.”
Twenty or more models took part in tonight’s show.
