Officials to break ground on Popp’s Ferry extension project in Biloxi
A new road extension project is set to kick off in Biloxi on Wednesday. WXXV News 25’s Ethan Krauss was at Popps Ferry Road and has the details.
This groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction on a project to extend Popp’s Ferry from Pass Road to U.S. 90. Approximately one and a half miles of four-lane boulevard will be constructed.
The project also includes new signalized intersections, construction of a new Mississippi Coast Coliseum access road as well as the installation of a gated rail crossing, roadway lighting and sidewalks.
The $20.8 million contract was awarded to Necaise Brothers Construction and is estimated to be complete by the end of 2026.
Commissioner Charles Busby, Southern Transportation District; Biloxi Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and other officials will be present at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The ceremony will take place at Popp’s Ferry Rd. just south of the Walgreen’s located at the intersection of Popp’s Ferry Rd. and Pass Rd. at 11 a.m.
