Officials cut the ribbon on new military research facility in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- In partnership with the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new home for the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise at Ignition Park in Kiln.

From hurricane response to national security operations, JALBTCX delivers the coastal data needed for safer navigation, stronger coastal resilience, and informed decision-making for federal state and local partners.

The facility will unify research and operations under one roof, expanding capability, accelerating technology development, and boosting economy opportunity across the Gulf Coast.
