Officer McKeithen’s procession in Biloxi

Following Officer McKeithen’s service at First Baptist Church in Biloxi, hundreds of members of law enforcement manned their vehicles to escort their brother in blue to his final resting place.

New Orleans Police Officer Vaughn Valeary said, “Times like this are important for family to come together. Everyone in law enforcement is family, doesn’t matter the agency, which department you work for, or your responsibility or unit you work in. Everyone is family, no matter what.”

That mutual love and respect that law enforcement has for one another was displayed first hand at the funeral of fallen Biloxi Police Officer Robert McKeithen. “It’s important that we show support. It’s important that all agencies at times like this come together. Show representation for solidarity reasons. If we don’t show solidarity for one another, who will?”

Following Officer McKeithen’s funeral, hundreds of officers from across the country joined in on a procession to our fallen hero’s final resting place. The over 12 mile route was filled with Coast families wanting to pay their respects. Biloxi residents Ben Wright and Samantha Myers sat on the corner of Popp’s Ferry and Cedar Lake Road to watch the procession, wanting to pay their respects to their fallen hero. “Like I said, you know, you can be there or you can do something about it and this is one little thing.” “We are there for them when they are there for us.”

Like Myers and Wright, dozens made their way to Biloxi National Cemetery, taking time out of their day to honor the wonderful life of Robert McKeithen.
