Officer-involved shooting in Ocean Springs
Ocean Springs, Miss (WXXV) The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer‑involved shooting involving the Ocean Springs Police Department near a hotel on Bienville Boulevard in Ocean Springs.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the area. When they arrived, they encountered an individual armed with a weapon. Officers instructed the subject to drop the weapon, but the individual advanced toward them in a threatening manner. Officers fired their weapons, striking the subject. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. No officers sustained any serious physical injuries.
MBI is currently reviewing the incident and collecting evidence. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be presented to the Attorney General’s Office. All details are preliminary and may change as the investigation continues.
