Off and on showers stick around through Friday

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi

A few showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight and Friday, but the next best chance for rain arrives Sunday.

Tonight remains mostly cloudy with a few lingering showers early and temperatures falling into the low and mid 70s. The partial lunar eclipse will occur between 10pm and midnight, with the peak happening around 11:12pm cdt. We’ll likely have too much cloud cover, but there may be a very quick opportunity if we see some clearing.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible, mainly during the daytime. Highs will reach the upper 80s. Saturday brings more sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs near 91 and a another chance of afternoon storms.

Sunday looks like the wettest day of the upcoming week, with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening. Highs will still reach around 91.

Rain chances remain in the forecast Monday through Thursday, but the overall pattern stays hot and humid. Highs climb into the lower 90s Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures reaching the mid 90s by Wednesday and Thursday.
