Ochsner Biloxi to Open Maternal Fetal Center for High Risk

Good news for expectant mothers on the Mississippi Gulf Coast: Ochsner is opening a Maternal Fetal Medical Center for high risk pregnancies in Biloxi.

Doctors are expecting the center to be heavily used by expectant mothers who would otherwise have to travel to New Orleans for treatment. The center’s cutting edge technology allows them to connect to the New Orleans office and better serve women who are experiencing unexpected problems in their pregnancy. Ochsner’s doctors couldn’t be more excited.

Dr. Stephen Fortunado says, "The Gulf Coast has been completely underserved as far as our specialty goes. So the combination of the tele-radiology, tele-medicine, our presence here, and having an office dedicated to maternal fetal medicine really allows us to provide a service that has never been fully provided to the Gulf Coast.”

Patients would still need to travel to New Orleans for certain procedures, but most treatment can take place in Biloxi.
