Oceans Springs Boys and Girls Soccer Teams State Title Game Bound

Only two high schools in the entire state of Mississippi are sending both their boys and girls soccer teams to the state title games this weekend in Jackson. One of those schools is Ocean Springs.
The other one is Northwest Rankin, setting the stage for the same exact match-up in both the boys and girls 6A state title games.
The Greyhounds are no strangers to the championship stage and neither are the Lady Greyhounds. The former is playing for a gold ball for the third year in a row, while the latter is doing so for the second time in three years.
Ocean Springs is winless in those previous three tries, giving this senior class the chance to set the record straight, make history, and do it for the fam all in one fell swoop. Ocean Springs midfield Haley Roll said, “I think we have really good team chemistry and we can all kind of read each other pretty well.” Ocean Springs Forward Leighton Anderson said, “We’re a nice family and yeah.”
Ocean Springs Head Girls Soccer Coach Ryan Joiner said, “Yeah, the opportunity to be there is just an honor. We’re humbled to be there but we also realize that we’ve set ourselves up to be in this position by what we’ve done in the off-season, and obviously we want to go up there and perform as well as we can. If we can give the boys a little motivation with a win before I think that’s going to be best for them, ‘cause we’ll kind of build off one another with spirit.”
Ocean Springs right back Brandon Pasquini said, “Empty the tank you know? Got to put everything out there, last game no matter what. Put your body on the line.” Ocean Springs striker Caleb Burke said, “Just got to do your job like he said. Win every ball you can, every chance that you have. You have to put it away if you can, just do your best.”
Ocean Springs Head Boys Soccer Coach Jeff French said, “It Is history for our school. Last year we made two in a row, and that was history. And here we are making three in a row, so it’s a tremendous accolade no matter what the result is tomorrow after the game”
Both the Ocean Springs boys and girls have one state title in their respective program histories.
