Ocean Springs standout DB commits to Colorado State

When presented with new information what originally seems like the right choice can all of a sudden become the second option. That’s exactly what happened during Malcolm Magee’s recruitment process and his commitment to Colorado State.
On Sunday, the Ocean Springs standout made his verbal pledge to the Rams and officially shut down his recruitment for good again. On January 14th, Magee committed to Louisiana-Lafayette, but then reopened his recruitment following a visit to Fort Collins the following weekend.
Magee says he expected the cross-country distance to be a turnoff, but eventually promised playing time as a true freshman as well as an overwhelming feeling of home won out. “Yeah, it opened my eyes because at first I thought I wasn’t going to like it because of the distance, but as I finally got up there the coaches made me feel like I was a part of home, like the players and it’s something new. Like I can wake up and see mountains. It’s something that like made me feel special, it’s like how I grew up and I feel like Fort Collins is something I somehow grew up around. Like it’s the same people, same environment and they support you so I like that.”
Magee says he’ll put pen to paper with CSU on National Signing Day at 10 a.m. He picked the Rams over ULL, as well as Toledo, UTSA, Troy, Louisiana-Monroe, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State, Alcorn State, Central Arkansas, and Jackson State.
Joining Magee in the division I ranks is East Central offensive tackle Wyatt Green who committed to South Alabama earlier today, the very same day he received his first FBS offer.
Over at Harrison Central, three-star prospect Bryce Ramsey picked up another power 5 offer today, this one coming from Ole Miss.
As of yesterday, Poplarville cornerback DJ Travis can add Co-Lin to his list of JUCO options.
In the hoops department, Greyhounds sharp shooter Ryan Black got a look from Mississippi Gulf Coast on Saturday.
