Ocean Springs Rotary Club Hosts Pancake Fundraiser

Wednesday, Ocean Springs Rotary Club members tied on their aprons for their annual Pancake Day at the Ocean Springs Civic Center.

The Rotary Club flips flap jacks every year to raise money for high school seniors. For $5, attendees received a full breakfast, including of course, a stack of pancakes. The event has been going on for a number of years and is one of two annual fundraisers the Rotary Club uses to help students. The money goes toward college scholarships for seniors attending Ocean Springs and St. Martin High Schools.

Mark Spicer, President of the Ocean Springs Rotary Club, says, “This year, we’ve given $12,500 to students to help them with their education. I know some of the recipients and I’ve talked to them since and they’re highly appreciative. We actually had a young lady that came out this morning that just received her scholarship last week, and she came out to help us because she was so grateful.”

Pancakes were served until 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
