Ocean Springs residents celebrate Carl the Rooster at Carl Fest

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art hosted Carl Fest, celebrating the life of the rooster Carl 2.0, Ocean Springs’ unofficial mascot. He was killed back in April.

Ocean Springs musicians, artists, chefs, and Carl fans came out to celebrate his life. Since the death of Carl, local artists have produced and created art pieces inspired by the city’s beloved mascot.

In remembrance of Carl, locals wore t-shirts, carried key chains, showed off bumper stickers, and did much more to keep his memory alive.

Sarah Messer, owner of Madre’s Glitz and Glam, tells News 25 the inspiration behind her t-shirt design. “I am out here supporting Carl. We love Carl in Ocean Springs. Carl is famous all over. I was asked to do this for a Christmas present for someone. So, I came out here to show my support and proceeds are going to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.”
