Ocean Springs resident Mika Hartman to speak at Jackson rally
Saturday morning, an Ocean Springs mom will be speaking on stage at the state capital as the ‘See Me Now’ Bus Tour kicks off.
Mika Hartman is the mother of Hudson, the three-year-old with Down Syndrome whose diagnosis spurned her activism.
Hudson was the grand marshal in the 2019 Buddy Walk and played a part in passing the Human Life Equality Act and Hudson’s Law.
The tour will gather pro-life activists in six states leading up to a hearing on whether to overturn abortion protections in Mississippi under Roe v. Wade. The case, Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, centers on a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks.
Hartman said, “So we just want people to recognize they are human beings in the womb, not fetuses, not clumps of cells, but actual human beings, babies that feel pain and that suck their thumbs and do all kinds of amazing things. So that’s what the ‘See Me Now’ tour is about.”
Students for Life of America organized the bus tour.
