Ocean Springs QB Bray Hubbard commits to Alabama
For the longest time here on News 25, Ocean Springs dual-sport star Bray Hubbard has been known as Southern Miss baseball commit Bray Hubbard.
After an explosive few months of off-season recruitment, Alabama football commit Bray Hubbard has a pretty nice ring to it as well.
Over the weekend, the rising senior quarterback gave his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide and Head Coach Nick Saban, who plans to use Hubbard as a safety.
In 2021, Hubbard led the Greyhounds to an overall mark of 11-1 and their first playoff win in seven years, all while accounting for more than 3,300 total yards and 52 touchdowns, 30 passing and 22 rushing, en route to winning Mr. Football for Class 6A.
The former News 25 Student Athlete of the Week landed offers from Alabama and Mississippi State earlier this month, giving him a total of ten division I football options.
But at the end of the day, Hubbard says he couldn’t say no to the man with seven national championships. “You can’t miss out on a chance to be playing with the best every day, against the best every day and playing for the best every day. Not everybody gets the opportunity, so now it’s time to go take advantage of it. You’re going to have people that say you can’t do this; you can’t do that. Okay. I’m going to prove to you I can.”
On the diamond, Hubbard blasted eight home runs as a junior and says playing baseball in Tuscaloosa is still something that’s being discussed.
