Ocean Springs Public Works preparing Fort Maurepas Park for new playground equipment

On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Department of Public Works will begin to demolish the existing equipment at Fort Maurepas Park and prepare the site for the new playground equipment.
The demolition should last 2 weeks barring any unforeseen circumstances. The area will be fenced off for safety. During the demolition phase of this project, Front Beach Drive (from Jackson Avenue to Washington Avenue) will become one-way eastbound from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the equipment to be hauled away.
The playground equipment by Landscape Structures will be installed by Moonshot Recreation and is expected to be delivered in early March. The playground equipment will include a Smart Play Beachcomber with an integrated shade structure for ages 5-12, a friendship swing, and a curva spinner.
The playground is expected to be open to the public in April 2024.
