Ocean Springs police provide new details on shooting at station
More details have emerged from a shooting at Ocean Springs Police Department that happened Monday night.
Deputy Chief Steven Dye said three people are facing charges and more could be added as a result of the incident.
He said that at 6 p.m. Monday, parents of a two-year-old girl arrived at the police station to make a visitation exchange. Dye said the stepfather, father and a friend of the father stepped out of the vehicles and an argument ensued.
At some point during the argument, the stepfather took out a pistol and began firing at the father and his friend. All three ended up exchanging gunfire. Dye said 36 shell casings and three firearms were recovered from the scene.
As a result, 27-year-old Anthony Hall, the father’s friend, was charged with aggravated assault. More charges are possible. The father, 23-year-old Corey Taylor, is in stable condition at Ocean Springs Hospital as a result of a gunshot wound. He also faces an aggravated assault charge, with more charges possible.
The stepfather, 27-year-old Devon Gray, is facing two charges of aggravated assault with more charges possible. He also is in Ocean Springs Hospital recovering from a gunshot wound.
The mother and child were not injured, Dye said.
Because the shooting happened during an exchange of the child, Child Protective Services were called out, Dye said.
