Ocean Springs Police Department names Steven Dye as Deputy Chief of Police

Ocean Springs, MS – The Ocean Springs Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Steven Dye to the position of Deputy Police Chief, effective February 7, 2024.

Deputy Chief Dye brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role, and he will continue to serve the Ocean Springs community with integrity and professionalism.

“Having served with distinction in various capacities within the Ocean Springs Police Department for 16 years, Deputy Chief Dye has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership skills, a commitment to public safety, and a passion for community engagement,” said Police Chief Ryan LeMaire.

“His unwavering dedication to the well-being of our residents and his innovative approach to law enforcement make him an invaluable asset to our department.”

In his new role, Deputy Chief Dye will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the departments patrol division, traffic division, training division, criminal investigations division, and collaborating with city officials and community leaders, and implementing strategies to enhance public safety initiatives throughout Ocean Springs.

His proven track record of fostering positive relationships with stakeholders and his ability to effectively manage complex situations make him well-suited to lead the department in achieving their shared goals. “I am honored to serve as the new Deputy Police Chief,” said Dye. “I am committed to fostering community trust, safety, and collaboration. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated officers and engaging with the community to ensure a secure and supportive environment for all.”

Dye is a graduate of the Northwestern University Center of Public Safety and holds multiple certifications in specialized courses.
