Ocean Springs mourning loss of beloved mascot Carl the rooster

Ocean Springs residents are mourning the loss of their beloved mascot, Carl, who reportedly has died.

Business owners who looked forward to seeing Carl every day noticed he was missing at the beginning of the week and started posting to social media about his whereabouts.

By Wednesday, surveillance video from downtown businesses was posted showing a group of people walking away with Carl about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Later posts revealed that Carl’s body had been found, though the posts did not say where.

The social media posts are generating a lot of reaction.

Posts showing video of Carl being taken have been shared hundreds of times and recent posts indicate that the people in the video seen taking Carl from his roost have been identified.
